Rosemarie Keough FI' 02
Rosemarie Keough is a Fellow of The Explorers Club, Medallist of Britain's Royal Geographical Society, and "Nature Photographer of the World, 2003." Her profession is photography and private-press publishing, both of which allow Rosemarie to explore parts of the world renown for their natural or human heritage. Her award-winning books are sought after by private collectors and institutions around the world. As pleasant digression from her very full schedule, and motivated by her enjoyment and concern for the survival of ethnic dance and instrumentation, Rosemarie has founded the annual Salt Spring Island Folk Dance Festival. Rosemarie resides on Salt Spring Island where she and her husband Pat Keough have personally built their artistic craftsman-style home and studio.

Rosemarie was born in London, Ontario and graduated in 1981 from the University of Western Ontario's Richard Ivey School of Business Administration. While working as a finance manager for Procter and Gamble, she spent all her personal time leading canoeing, hiking, and skiing expeditions with camera in hand. Fate intervened when she paddled the legendary South Nahanni River where she met Pat Keough. Married just four months later, the new couple forged a lifestyle combining photography, television, exploration, and books. Over two decades have swiftly passed during which Rosemarie and Pat have released seven art books exclusively featuring their photography, and have produced or appeared in several television specials. The Keoughs and their images have been profiled in reviews, covers, and in-depth articles in numerous periodicals worldwide including The Economist, Smithsonian, Forbes, Time, and Patek Philippe.

Rosemarie and Pat's latest effort is a luxurious, hand-bound tome entitled ANTARCTICA. This 27-pound volume is acclaimed by critics and curators to be among the finest art books of the modern era. Distinctions bestowed to ANTARCTICA include Worldâs Best Photography Book, Outstanding Book of the Year, Best Book Arts Craftsmanship, Gold Ink Award Fine-Edition Books, and the Craft Art Science Award. In all 21 prestigious honours have been received. Polar experts acknowledge the Keoughs' Antarctic photography to be the most eclectic and evocative portfolio ever published. Extensive exploration of the great white continent by the Keoughs was accompanied by years of research into ancient bookbinding methods and modern cutting-edge printing technology. ANTARCTICA is the inaugural volume of a new series of Keough books appropriately called The Explorer Series. The objective of this series is to further appreciation for wildlife, wild places and cultural heritage. All net proceeds from ANTARCTICA support international efforts to help rescue declining albatross populations; the world's largest seabirds. The connection is that the stormy seas encircling Antarctica is the realm of the worldâs largest seabirds, the Royal and Wandering albatrosses, both of which are endangered by man's activities.
