Schoonover |
Jason
Schoonover has been an ethnographic collector since 1978, having
placed major collections in museums around the world, including
the Smithsonian Institution, the Sankokan in Tenri Nara Japan,
Canada’s Museum of Civilization and Vancouver’s
Museum of Anthropology where their second largest collections,
after their primary West Coast Native art, are his Sri Lankan
Devil Dance collections. His area of interest is Southeast
Asia, including the Himalayas and Sri Lanka.
Besides writing extensively for newspapers, magazines, radio,
TV and stage, he is the author of adventure novels, based on
his experience, such as the international bestseller, Thai Gold,
and its sequel, Opium Dream.
Jason splits his year between Bangkok
and Saskatoon, Canada, from which he launches and leads canoe
brigades onto northern
Saskatchewan’s pristine 100,000 lakes and rivers each summer.
Su Hattori has been his expedition partner since 1989.
